Sharon's House

The project began as just quickly screw in a few boards before going out for the afternoon. One week later and we were done. Here's the blow-by-blow action. All looked good except for a few springy boards here and there. Then I noticed under the windows a few unwelcome signs of termites. So it was time to remove the plywood and see what was lurking beneath the surface. Click on the photo above and see the beginning of the adventure. Notice the duct tape on the window screen.

As I pulled back the plywood under the window there was termite damage. Appears that water worked it's way in by the window and gave the termites a way in. Found a few more places with termites but overall not much termite damage to the house frame. We replaced one 2x4 and used copper green to on all of the boards to keep them away for good. As a precaution we decided to remove all of the plywood facing and give the house a fresh solid look.

The tear down went fast but we had to wait a couple of days for Home Depot to deliver. Plus the plywood on the front was an unusual length so we had to go to Economy Lumber.
