Spring Chimney Sweep

Took about an hour to sweep and shop-vac the fireplace. Used the 6" wide brush to sweep the entire chimney. Here's pictures of before and after the sweep.

Used "Furnace Cement" chimney mortar patch. Rated to withstand over 2700 degrees which should do the job.

Notice the cracks on the top of the chimney. Didn't notice any down the flue.




Before and during the job. Swept the chimney about 10 times down the middle and 10 times on each side for about 30 total sweeps.


The tools used were a chimney sweep wire brush mounted to an 8' length of 3/4" PVC irrigation pipe. Total reach down the flue was about 11' when I extended my arms down the flue with the poll.

The tree limb crack appears to be located on the right limb that already broke off. Didn't see any damage on the limb that extends over the house.
